Te Araroa, meaning The Long Path in Maori, is a recently developed 1800 mile-long hiking trail running the length of New Zealand. Similar to long distance trails in the US like the Pacific Crest Trail, Te Araroa is quickly gaining popularity and attracting adventurous soles from across the globe. Intrigued by the idea of exploring a foreign country by foot, Will Hunt set out on Te Araroa in January of 2019 with a goal of walking the length of New Zealand and experiencing all that it has to offer.
Will Hunt is an outdoor enthusiast currently residing in Santa Rosa, CA. Born into a military family that moved frequently, Will gained a passion for nature and exploration at an early age. In this presentation, Will shares experiences from his five month journey through the beautiful scenery and culture of New Zealand, as well as the inward journey that occurs during a long distance backpacking trip.
