Mountain biking

Postby cvd » Thu Dec 07, 2006 11:14 am

I actually dusted off my 16 year old Rockhopper and went for a ride in Annadel last weekend, had a great time! Bike currently in the shop getting new shifters and brakes, since the shifters were broken.

Anyway, I'm interested in more trail rides, with the caveat that I'm a relative beginner with NO suspension.

My bike was stolen. Need another one, but love to ride.

This should help your suspension problem:

Wicked good bike ride at Lake Sonoma yesterday. Lots of up, lots of down, mud, some pavement on the return leg, stream crossings and a few crashes (ooohhh... ). A good overall workout.

From the Skaggs Springs Vista Trailhead, rode the Bear Creek Trail 10 miles to the Rancheria Creek Trail. Mostly pushed my bike about 5 miles as I climb up the RCT to Liberty Glen CG and then down the main road back to the truck.

Total time: 05:40:00
Approx. miles: 20

Yep, I know that area like the back of my hand and am partly responsible for some trails. Cool place, and there is actually some decent bouldering back there.

Jerry, do you have a specific type/brand picked out, or are you still shopping around?

I'm responsible for dozens of trails here in Angwin. Been mt. biking here every day for the past 15 years. I live right here and have got Tue/Wed off. I don't have to be at work until 3 pm though, so I get to ride anytime I want.

Man, I miss those great trails up there. We used to ride all the time when I lived in Angwin. Can't remember if we ever rode together. Probably.

I might be teaching a class at PUC spring quarter. It'll be on Tuesday afternoons. I'll have to get a bike start riding again.

It's gonna get tacky!
Plus it's cooling down. I have several-many backcountry rides up my sleeve.
2-12 hours long.
I've been itching to do the NVRT 10k ride again.
That would be the Napa Valley Ridge Trail 10,000 ft. of elevation gain/loss, 12 hour ride. Angwin to the summit of Mt. St. Helena and back.
Several shuttle rides and lots of longer out and back rides. If anyone wants to ride a bit longer than usual, I am willing to give tours on Tuesday/Wednesdays until the snow flies.
Then I'll be skiing!

I can ride from 10am-12noon on Saturdays for shorter rides(one short backcountry loop).

Went to Annadel yesterday and Willow Creek today with Jonathan. Who else is psyched? Would be fun to do some rides in the Sierra/Eastside this summer. I want to ride Rock Creek pretty bad. Guess I better get in shape!

Ok, so I'm at Tahoe for the next two weeks. I have an apartment in Tahoe City with an extra bed this week, and room with bunks next week in Incline. Camping over the weekend between workshops and have an extra site. If anyone wants to come up, you've got a place to crash, even if I can't get out. Its a work trip. Lets ride!

I might come to South Lake this weekend. You just wanna bike or maybe climb? Elaine's been talking about Phantom Spires. Also curious to try out my brand new North Tahoe climbing guidebook. Where are you camping?
