Nov. 29 – Dec. 1: Thanksgiving Weekend Climbing and Camping Trip – Patrick’s Point State Park, Humboldt County
The Rock Ice & Mountain Club has finally organized a climbing and camping trip!!! We have booked several campsites at Patrick Point State Park on the beautiful north coast in Humboldt County. Patrick Point is central to many climbing and bouldering spots on the coast and inland. There is even some great climbing on the coast in Patrick Point State Park that is walking distance from the campground. We have booked three campsites for two nights – Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30. There are currently many available campsites for Sunday night, December 1 that we can reserve if there is interest in staying a third night. We will have availability for 24 people. It will be a crap shoot on the weather. Sometimes it can be perfect weather in November or it can be rain. We will take our chances. If it does rain, there is great hiking in the redwoods and Arcata has a climbing gym. Check out Mountain Project for information on many of the climbing areas: https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105846963/redwood-coast To sign up, go to the Contact page at www.rockicemountain.com and send Darren Wiemeyer a message. Please include Patrick’s Point Trip in the message. photos: Evan Wisheropp
The July 3 General Meeting for the Rock Ice & Mountain Club will be at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park near Kenwood, CA. We are not going to have the general meeting at the Round Table Pizza in Santa Rosa. In an effort to provide more outdoor opportunities and because the July general meeting falls on the day before the Fourth of July, we decided to reserve the group camp site at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and have an opportunity for our members and non-members to enjoy time together hanging out, hiking, biking, having a potluck dinner, camping, and wait for it…………………BOULDERING. Yes, many know that there is bouldering at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, but many have never been or hear that it is all choss. Well I’m here to tell you that is not the case. There has been a lot of development of boulder problems the last 5 or more years and there is some choss, but also lots of fun, challenging and good boulder problems. Many are unknown classics. So bring your shoes, chalkbag and bouldering pad for a Tuesday afternoon/evening session and a Wednesday morning session. Tour guides, Darren Wiemeyer and Chris Summit, will be there to … READ MORE
Come on up to Tuolumne Meadows for camping, hiking and climbing. We have reserved two consecutive weekends so there is no reason you can’t make one of them. For July 13-14, we have reserved a single site so it will fill up fast. We can try to get additional site if we get a big turnout. For July 20-21, we have a group campsite and hope to fill it up. Be ready for any and all weather conditions and bring bug spray. For more information, contact Andrew Mowery at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are heading to the Owens River Gorge for some sport climbing. We might also jump over to the Buttermilks for some bouldering. Please send me an e-mail if you are interested! email@example.com What: Sport Climbing, Bouldering Where: Owens River Gorge/Bishop When: 3/17/11 (evening) -3/20-11 (leave morning)
